I believe FA is most famous for imposing such a ban, and I was curious what everyone thought about this kind of thing.
It seems to me that the "Summit" area is simply an extention of the game- an "in-character" place for politics to take place. However, it seems insane to me that any in-game entity would ever consider themseves justified in banning people from posting to an out-of-game section of the board like the "Discussions" area. To me, it almost seems akin to a corp telling people they cant drink coke while playing EVE. Do you agree?
What other alliances, if any, have imposed such a ban? Has it ever been sucessful? Has it caused more problems than it created? How could such insanity ever be justified? Given the existence of alts, how could it ever be enforced?
Just curious what others thought... 
The thing you gotta remember about such bans, it's not about being spiteful, it's not about being communist and forcing a facade of the current internal state. Well, maybe the latter to some degree. Anyway, imagine the situation. An alliance comes up with an amazing way to win a battle. Some mind boggalingly simple, but massivly effective, completely legal and ethically moral tactic. So one night alliance1 (you) goes and WTFBBWPowns alliance2. Anyway, alliance1 would certainly not want anyone else to know how this was done, to prevent counter-measure, or worse, the tactic being used against them. The only problem is, some lowly, newly joined member doesn't understand this, or while drunk goes and shouts his mouth off, without realising it or not.
A lot of what is in a message is not neccessarily what is written. It is how it is written, or maybe even what is not written. The other of course is that alliance vs alliance threads 99% ultimately decend into a political mess and nightmare which the diplomats have to solve...
